How we check our used gear

Every item for sale goes through our in-house lab before it goes online and is covered by a 2-year warranty (12 months if you buy with a VAT number).
On camera bodies we check the sensor, body shell, electronics, plastics, rubber grips and display; on lenses the barrel, glass elements, aperture and autofocus.
Every listing shows the photos, the condition and the shutter count of that very unit: what you see is what you get.

Frequently asked questions about used Canon lenses

Which cameras does a used Canon lens fit?

Canon EF lenses fit every EOS DSLR, full frame and APS-C; EF-S lenses fit APS-C EOS DSLRs only. RF and RF-S lenses are for EOS R mirrorless cameras, where the EF-EOS R adapter also mounts EF and EF-S lenses with autofocus and stabilisation working. EF-M lenses are for EOS M cameras only. The mount is written on every product page.

What do you check on a used Canon lens?

Front, rear and internal elements against the light for scratches, haze, dust and fungus; aperture, zoom and focus rings, USM or STM autofocus motor and IS stabiliser tested on a Canon body; mount, contacts and barrel; final cleaning. That is at least 11 checks, and a lens that fails them never reaches the website. Hoods and caps included are listed on the product page.

What do the letters on a used Canon lens mean?

L marks the professional series with the red ring, IS the optical stabiliser, USM and STM the type of autofocus motor (STM is quiet and suited to video), EF-S and RF-S the design for APS-C sensors, DO the compact diffractive optics. The designations and the mount of each unit are given on its product page, together with the cosmetic grade.

What warranty does a used Canon lens have, and can I trade mine in?

The ReflexMania warranty of 24 months from delivery (12 months with a VAT number), free returns within 14 days and free shipping within Italy from €49. To sell or trade in a Canon lens, request a quote through the online form: you receive the offer by email, you ship the lens to us and payment by bank transfer or PayPal arrives in 2-3 working days.
