We have sold only one, in January 2025: we do not yet have a series of counters to quote for the Sony A7r Mark II. Sony counters are not in the menus: we read them in our workshop with our tools and print the number on the listing as a certified shutter count, and the declared grade is the lower of cosmetics and shutter-count band. What do you check on a used Sony A7r Mark II before selling it?
We read the shutter counter, check the exposed 42.4-megapixel full-frame sensor (dust and scratches), the shutter curtain, the in-body stabilisation, the electronic viewfinder, the tilting screen, the SD slot, the Wi-Fi, the dials, the buttons and the battery, then we test it with a Sony FE lens. Which lenses fit a Sony A7r Mark II?
The Sony A7r Mark II has the Sony E-Mount and a full-frame sensor: it takes Sony FE lenses and Sigma, Tamron and Samyang lenses with an E mount; with an APS-C E lens the frame is cropped. A-Mount lenses are used with an LA-EA adapter. It has in-body stabilisation, so even an unstabilised lens works stabilised.
